Tips For Keeping Dumpsters Clean

Renting a dumpster is a great way to easily get rid of a large amount of trash or garbage in your home, your rental properties, or your office. There are so many different reasons why you should rent a dumpster if you’re looking to get rid of a large amount of stuff, but there is a trick to keeping them clean. Depending on how long you are renting dumpster from M&M Waste, it may sit through some serious weather conditions like rain, snow, hail, ice, heat, etc.

While you may think you’re only going to have it for a week, how dirty can it really get? The answer is very dirty. Most people who rent dumpsters don’t think their dumpster will get dirty quickly. But depending on what you are throwing out, you can either deal with a lot of dirt or grim, you can deal with mold from old furniture, or if your dumpster sits out in the rain, it can collect a lot of nasty insects and worms.

When renting a dumpster, if you return it all nasty, smelling, and gross, you will get charged an extra fee. The team at M&M Waste came up with some ways to keep your dumpster clean while renting it so you don’t get charged with any hefty fees!

3 Tips for Keeping Your Dumpsters Clean

1.    Clear the inside
The first thing you’ll want to do to keep your dumpster clean is clean out the inside of the dumpster. Every time you fill up a dumpster with your trash and garbage, there are always some things left behind. This can cause mold to grow, a smell to form, and bugs will cling to the debris in your dumpster. Once your rental dumpster has been filled with stuff, give M&M Waste a call to empty it and bring it back for you. To make sure your rental dumpster remains clean, you will want to clean the inside (keep reading to learn with what) before you start to fill it up again.

2.    Bleach and water
Have you been renting a dumpster for 3 months to clean out some rental properties you bought? Is it getting gross, moldy, and smelly? You can use a mixture of bleach and water to make sure it stays clean and fresh. Wash the entire outside and inside with bleach and water so it remains clean. To clean the inside, fill it with about 6 inches of water and add two cups of bleach. Once the mixture is inside your dumpster rental, let it sit for 30-60 minutes before draining and rinsing it.

3.    Dry it out
After you cleaned your dumpster with bleach and water, the most important thing you’ll want to do is allow the dumpster to completely dry before putting more trash into it. By drying both the inside and the outside, you are preventing bacteria and mold from forming on the trash you’ll throw into it.
